10 Babyface Champions WWE Fans Just Wouldn’t Accept

1. Roman Reigns (2015/2016)

There was a time when Roman Reigns could accurately be described as one of the coolest names on the WWE roster. As a largely mute enforcer for The Shield, the bad ass aura of Reigns was powerful, and it seemed only a matter of time before he was adopted by the core audience as their champion elect.

Shortly after The Shield disbanded, the ass-kicking mystique of Reigns gave way to a softer approach that hasn't worked yet.

Roman Reigns capturing the WWE Title at WrestleMania 32 should have been special, but the live crowd inside the AT&T Stadium cheered for Triple H (the clear heel of the feud) more than they did for their supposed hero. This ill-feeling was also present when Roman won his first WWE Title at the 2015 Survivor Series.

Undoubtedly pushed harder than many of his peers, the handsome superstar has become known as someone WWE want to impose on fans, and that immediately eliminates any organic harmony between audience and product.

Unless a concerted effort is made to change his overall presentation, there's a case to be made that WWE fans will never accept Roman as a babyface champion.
