To be the man, you gotta beat the man, but apparently, there has to be only one man, or at least that's how WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair thought it was when Becky Lynch started using "The Man" moniker. Flair decided to take things a bit too far and threatened legal action against WWE over Lynch using the nickname and filed a trademark for the term "The Man," claiming that he's been using the moniker since the 1980s.

WWE had to settle things with Flair out of court, and the latter transferred the rights to the term in May 2020. The controversy even created a rift between Ric Flair and his daughter, Charlotte Flair, and Becky Lynch's husband, Seth Rollins, took offense to the 16-time WWE Champion's deeds.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Ric Flair talked about the backstage heat he had with Seth Rollins following his legal battle with WWE and Becky Lynch. Rollins was reportedly upset with Flair over the entire ordeal and even walked past him at an autograph session. However, the legend put an end to the controversy when he apologized to Becky Lynch backstage during the Raw XXX special episode on 23 January 2023.
