10 Bad-Ass WCW Gimmicks Wasted On Terrible Wrestlers
3. 3 Count
Yes, you're reading that right. 3 Count has just been placed in an article discussing badass wrestling gimmicks. The idea of a "boy band" is a good heat-getter and opens the door for plenty of comedic moments. The fact that it took place at a time when boy bands were all the rage in the music world only made it better, as men were sick and tired of hearing from groups like the Backstreet Boys, NSync, and 98 Degrees all the time, while women were almost guaranteed to be in love with these guys from the start. There is a bit of a catch here, though. Evan Karagias? Terrible wrestler. Shannon Moore? Terrible wrestler. Shane Helms? Not a terrible wrestler. Karagias and Moore were definitely given the roles based on their looks, although many people still don't think Helms really fit the "theme" that well. However, Karagias and Moore were, for all intents and purposes, the Kardashians of WCW at the time... famous for their looks, but not really possessing any sort of skills or abilities that made people think they deserved to be famous. The fact that neither of them ever achieved any real level of semi-regular success after 3 Count proves that. Meanwhile, Helms had great success as The Hurricane, as well as when he was using his real name in WWE. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1HwxjgpOdI
