10 Bad WWE Matches From Great WrestleManias

8. "King" Harley Race Vs. Junkyard Dog (WrestleMania III)

Bunnymania WrestleMania XXIV
WWE

This was one of many "filler" matches on this card, but this one was definitely the worst of the lot.

Though he had won the King of the Ring tournament that year, Harley Race was well past his prime by 1987. And Junkyard Dog, though he was incredibly entertaining and beloved by the fans, was never a great wrestler. In spite of those apparent red flags, WWF booked Race and JYD in a "Loser Must Bow" match at WrestleMania III.

Likely as a cover-up for the limitations of both men, Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan was a major presence in this match, interfering on Race's behalf twice in the just-over-three-minute contest. While there was one enjoyable spot where Race headbutted JYD only to hurt himself on JYD's boulder-like head, it also had Race selling for those ridiculous four-legged headbutts that JYD used to do. How someone as legitimately tough-as-nails as Race ever agreed to do that is beyond anyone's comprehension.

Worse yet is that the match ended in a botched three count, as JYD clearly kicked out before the three but the ref counted the pinfall anyway. What a mess.
