10 Behind The Scenes Stories About Kevin Owens You Should Know
6. Owens Was Unhappy With His Singles Run Between 2015-2017
Kevin Owens experienced the most successful period of his career as a singles performer between 2015 and 2017 in terms of title reigns as he held the NXT, Intercontinental, United States, and Universal Championships. However, despite these accolades, Owens admitted that he was not happy with his run during that time.
During an interview with CBS Sports to promote the Bash in Berlin event, Owens recalled that he continued to obsess over what's next and wanted to do more despite stacking up all the accolades. He stated that the five-month break after undergoing double knee surgery in October 2017 helped put things in perspective.
Owens mentioned that he called Shawn Michaels out of the blue to discuss the issue, and the Hall of Famer was kind enough to listen to him and provide valuable advice. Michaels told him he also felt the same way throughout his career, obsessing over what was next instead of enjoying the ride. He further stated that the conversation with Michaels helped him change his perspective and how it helped him move forward and expressed how the advice worked as he went on to face Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania 38 and win the tag team titles with Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 39.
