10 Beloved Wrestlers With One AWFUL Gimmick

9. Chad Gable (Shorty G)

Speaking of silly, WWE were at their absolute childish worst when it came to Chad Gable's sudden character change in 2019.

On the back of a brilliant showing in that year's King of the Ring tournament, the Olympian soon found himself being mocked for his size by Baron Corbin. And rather than make the big lad pay for his immature barbs, WWE had Gable weaponise the future King's words, fully embracing his size by rebranding himself as 'Shorty G'. Because that'd show him, Chad!

It did not.

Instead, Gable went from likeable superworker to garishly dressed jobber in next to no time at all. And this absolute waste of his unquestionable charisma and in-ring ability went on for about a year before someone realised they may not actually be getting the best out of one of the greatest technical workers in the industry today.

Fast forward a few years and the endearing Gable appears to have finally carved out a decent spot for himself on Monday nights, routinely flexing his comedic muscles backstage with Alpha Academy pal/budding model Otis and putting on utterly superb displays in-between the ropes whenever he's called upon... all without a dumb vest or silly moniker in sight.
