10 Best Active Wrestlers Over 40
1. Bryan Danielson
Change the title of this article to "10 Best Active Wrestlers" and this man would still top it.
The American Dragon is that rare breed of wrestler - universally respected by his peers, and unfailingly adored by fans. And in the past year, he's shown exactly why that's the case.
As well as his sterling in-ring work in MOTY candidates against Kenny Omega and Adam Page, Danielson offered a masterclass in character-work in his all-too-short run as a heel. His feud-starting promo against Adam should be studied by any up-and-coming wrestler as a masterclass in crowd manipulation, as Bryan effortlessly transforms himself from fan favourite to despicable villain in less than five minutes.
Bryan Danielson is one of those wrestlers who genuinely can do it all - heel/face, workrate/promo, comedy/seriousness - and we're extremely grateful he's been able to continue working into his forties. (Especially after his career looked like it was over when he was 35).
Here's to another 40 years, Bryan! (That was a joke. No-one wants a repeat of Ric Flair's Last Match).
