2. Drew McIntyre (WWE Champion)

For the most part, fresh names in the babyface championship pool are rather slim, especially at the top of the card. While WWE was happy to give reigns to stars like Kingston and Styles, they were never considered talents who could top events like WrestleMania. There was a time when it seemed the company had no top babyface stars anymore, but then Drew McIntyre came long.

The former Chosen One had reinvented himself on the indie circuit after his 2014 release from the company. He came back with a tonne of momentum, burning through NXT in a short stint and then reclaiming his place on the main roster. As a tough heel, he wasn't getting anywhere, but an eventual face turn and massive Royal Rumble win strapped a rocket to his back which flew him to the moon.

After defeating Brock Lesnar and winning the WWE title at WrestleMania 36, he began a fantastic reign that saw him mow down his opponents and gather plenty of critical acclaim. Drew worked so well as a babyface star as he's one of the few wrestlers who can make WWE's overly-scripted promos seem genuine and badass.

While it did peter out towards the end - and suffered from a short Orton reign in between - his decisive wins, prestige and solid mic skills helped to make him one of the company's biggest names.
