There’s something about The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar that just works so well, which is a bit odd. After all, one is a legit fighter and the other has a supernatural gimmick. Their matches should be a trainwreck, but they’re so good at what they do, and have such great chemistry together that they usually create magic.

While they’ve had some great battles over the years, their Hell in a Cell match at No Mercy 2002 was their best—and by far their most violent.

Brock had never competed in a Hell in a Cell match to that point, which should have left him at a big disadvantage, except that going into the fight Taker’s hand was “broken”, which left the veteran with a giant cast. Over the course of the match, Brock broke that cast wide open by tearing it apart after a series of chair shots. The Dead Man got in plenty of shots of his own, though, as he turned Brock into a big, bloody mess. Actually, both men heavily bled, along with Paul Heyman, just for fun!

The match showed that Taker was willing to put over a younger wrestler, and made him look like a million bucks in victory. He was also willing to take one hell of a beating to accomplish that feat. It could be a long time before we see two big men deliver a match this good again in WWE.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
