10 Best Candidates To Win WWE’s New World Heavyweight Title

8. Randy Orton

Right, this is definitely a less likely return than Drew McIntyre's, but it's hardly impossible. Few really know the status of Randy Orton health-wise right now; is he close to a comeback, or are the rumours his career could be over actually true? Only time will tell on that one.

Triple H's creative squad would like to have Randy back in the mix though, and he'd be ideal as a ye olde steady pair of hands World Heavyweight Champ. Sure, it'd be a lazy call, but Orton's legacy aura probably pushes him into contention if he's fit and available.

WWE know they're guaranteed a huge reaction when Randy does finally return.

RK-Bro tag-team partner Matt Riddle has started doing his own thing full-time in Orton's absence, so there'd be no need to revisit that idea in the short-term. Would Randy as World Champ fly with hardcores in 2023? Who knows? It could be worth a punt (ahem).
