10 Best Character Arcs In Wrestling Today

5. Chris Jericho

With an ego bigger than his daily alcohol intake, Chris Jericho finds himself fronting a fresh promotion as its diabolical champion. Obsessed with receiving the gratitude he believes himself worthy of, Jericho has made enemies left, right and centre since leaving WWE behind.

From his wars with Kenny Omega and Tetsuya Naito to his current blood feud with Cody, Jericho has proven age doesn’t always have to be a number. Indeed, his penchant for violence, outlandish ring attire and promo insanity has only grown with age.

Determined to cement his legendary superstar status amongst the new generation, Jericho carries himself like the champions of old: mean, colourful and boozy. A stark contrast to much of the talent he finds himself opposing in AEW, Jericho has wisely assorted some back up. Sammy Guevara, LAX and Jake Hager seem an odd assortment of cronies but they all have one thing in common: they showed Jericho the respect he is so consumed with receiving. For a man seeking every ounce of recognition possible, that’s good enough.

Refusing to let go of the good old days or make away for the new bunch, Jericho has reinvented himself successfully yet again.
