4. KENTA
Will the real KENTA please stand up?
The NOAH and ROH super warrior fell by the wayside during his injury prone tenure in WWE. As Hideo Itami, he enjoyed little success and ultimately returned to Japan having lost five years overseas. Standing with old pal Katsuyori Shibata, KENTA entered New Japan’s G1 Climax where he began on a four match winning streak.
That’s great. If only he hadn’t ended it with a five match losing streak. Disappointed with himself and the disdain shown to him by the New Japan fans, KENTA joined the faction formed by old NXT pal Finn Bálor: The Bullet Club.
Betraying the promotion and worse still, Shibata, KENTA gladly gave the world the finger and how did the universe reward his despicable actions? By letting him win the NEVER Openweight title of course.
From Hideo Itami to a noble man trying to prove himself to a vile traitor, it’s been a rollercoaster year for KENTA. With his new attitude, he has regained some of the star aura he once carried so well and is walking into the Tokyo Dome with singles gold in hand.
Now if only there were some very hopeful clue as to who might face him...
