The feud between Cody Rhodes and Chris Jericho going into Full Gear 2019 was sensational, and set the tone for the quality of storytelling that fans could expect from AEW title matches going forward. The 'American Nightmare' was in seminal form inside the ring and on the microphone, which was demonstrated by his heartfelt, emotion-provoking promos.
On the November 6th, 2019 episode of Dynamite, 'Le Champion' poked fun at Cody's very touching promos by making a parody of one of his vignettes that aired on Dynamite a week before. The result of this mockery was one of the funniest television segments wrestling has ever produced, as Jericho and the rest of the Inner Circle struck the perfect tone that made the group seem horrible but hilariously entertaining.
Highlights of the package included Jericho lying in a bubble bath fully clothed drinking "a little bit of the bubbly," and an appearance from Chris's aunt's friend from church, Patricia Bobski. However, the best part of the skit was when 'Soultrain Jones' (formerly Virgil of Golden Era WWE) turned up and began talking about the breadsticks at Olive Garden.
The whole thing was surreal and could have risked undermining the feud with the level of ridicule, but it was expertly crafted and was one of the highlights of AEW's early product.
