10 Best Daniel Bryan Matches Since His WWE Return
7. Daniel Bryan Vs. The Fiend - Royal Rumble 2020
The most recent match on this list, Daniel Bryan once again proved his relentless skills as a professional wrestler by crafting a legitimately great contest out of a seemingly impossible situation. While The Fiend's character work has been hysterical to witness and his matches have often brought sincere joy to my eyes, there hasn't been much fantastic action nor emotionally driven drama. Bryan changed that here.
While their Survivor Series match was faster paced and also very good, this amplified the strengths that Wyatt and Bryan have together, as they crafted a Strap Match that actually utilised The Fiend's no selling and the limits of the stipulation perfectly. The crowd were slightly dead following a great Women's Rumble and a stinker between Lacey Evans and Bayley, and didn't react to much of the opening few moments of the match. However, the way that Bryan connects with his audience and works miracles as an in-ring competitor managed to get everyone in that arena invested in the suggestion that he would beat Wyatt for the world championship, even though it was an impossibility.
The sheer punishment that Bryan took in this match was unreal for a PG era WWE contest, with his arm bloody from the belt and lashes all over his back and torso. The way he survived and continued to fight back/counter The Fiend's offence was miraculous, especially when he used the strap while applying his Yes Lock. When he eventually lost and struggled to walk out of the arena intact, you could feel the emotions of everyone in the arena behind him, beautifully admiring his bravery. We are so lucky to have him.
