Let's start with an unadulterated hit from the Attitude Era. While Gangrel is remembered as one of the coolest WWE Superstars in history - mainly due to the fact that his entrance and music were killer while the whole gothic, vampire schtick was 'in' during the late 90s - there's no getting away from the fact that he is one of the darkest personas ever to step between the ropes. What made Gangrel 'dark' was his unhealthy obsession with blood. During his heyday he would head to the ring with a goblet full of the stuff, which he would drink, allow to dribble down his face and Meatloaf-like shirt before spitting it into the crowd; much like the Sandman did back in ECW but it's fair to say that the substance the man from the land of Extreme produced was far more fondly received by those in the crowd. On top of that, the blood fetish stretched as far as giving his opponents blood baths - long before the likes of Vampiro et al used the same tactic in WCW. Although it's also fair to say that Gangrel's were modest compared to his WCW counterpart, as his were nothing more than a bucket full of blood rather than something that would cover the entire ring mat.
