10 Best Debut WWE WrestleMania Performances
5. John Cena - WrestleMania 19
At WrestleMania XIX, John Cena was supposed to take part in a rap battle against Jay-Z and Fabolous, but this was put on ice when the latter was arrested in March 2003.
Twelve months after the long arm of the law put a stop to Cena's 'Mania plans, he would be dealing with another set of long arms, as he took on The Big Show for the United States Championship.
The Doctor of Thuganomics took on the much larger man in the show's opening contest and was over like rover with the Madison Square Garden crowd. Cena had not yet been shoved down audience's throats and had actually gotten over on his own, so fans were hungry to see the young upstart capture the Stars and Stripes-emblazoned belt.
After some very Un-Cena-Like cheating, the good Doctor hoisted Show up onto his shoulders for a devastating FU (what the AA used to be called) and pinned The Giant to win his first ever championship in the WWE.
Winning your first belt at WrestleMania is an impressive feat and doing it in a great match is even more so.
Every great journey starts with a single step and the face who would eventually run the place took that step right here.
