When it came to dealing with the competition, WCW could have easily gone the USFL route and presented wrestling during time periods when the WWE was not running a show. Business logic dictated that was the best way for them to make a name for themselves. But Eric Bischoff wasn't interested in hiding from WWE.

While many no doubt questioned his decision to go against RAW head on, Bischoff devoted all of his creative efforts and energy to making Monday Night Nitro stand out from RAW every single week. From surprise appearances to PPV worthy matches, he knew that the hearts and minds of wrestling fans were going to be won on weekly television at that time and did everything he could to make sure they tuned into WCW. It was a huge risk that ultimately gave us the Monday Night Wars - and the most lucrative period in wrestling history.
