10 Best Early Year WWE Feuds

5. Kurt Angle Vs. Shawn Michaels (2005)

Dream matches are hard to do in modern day wrestling because we get so many matches on television as well as monthly PPVs that it's hard for anything to be fresh. By the time we got to 2005, Kurt Angle and Shawn Michaels were arguably the two best in-ring performers in WWE. Angle was a Smackdown guy while Michaels was on Raw, so they never interacted. When they had their showdown at the 2005 Royal Rumble with Michaels eliminating Angle and then the heel Angle attacking him after, it was magic. Their chemistry was so natural. The crowd was so into it right away that you just knew they would build it up the right way. What was cool about Angle vs. Michaels in terms of the build is that they didn't interact on every single show building up to it. They had to do creative things like having Angle show up on Raw as a surprise while Michaels did the same thing on Smackdown. They found ways to make it work without doing traditional things along the way. Who can forget Angle singing his version of Sexy Boy? Classic. As for their match at WrestleMania 21, it's one of the best matches ever. Considering it was their first televised match, they really had a memorable battle that is a timeless classic that is one of those matches you would love if you were a lifetime fan or somebody that was watching for the first time. Angle got the win in that match, but it was one of those matches where they both performed at such a high level that it didn't matter either way. Following WrestleMania, they had other matches because Angle was moved to Raw although the match at WM21 was the best of them.
