10 Best Endings In WWE Royal Rumble History

10. Bret Hart And Lex Luger (1994)

I'd be remiss not to mention the unforgettable ending to 1994's Royal Rumble match, which saw Bret Hart and Lex Luger named the co-winners of the contest.

Never before had two men had a legitimate claim to being the last man standing in the Rumble, but because the feet of both Hart and Luger touched the floor at the same time, there was controversy surrounding who the winner was.

Hart and Luger both seemed on course for Rumble triumph. Hart had been chasing the WWE Championship since losing it to Yokozuna at WrestleMania IX, whilst there were still some fumes left in Luger's big babyface push following his count-out win at SummerSlam. Unable to make a concrete decision on his 'man', Vince McMahon conceived the double-winner scheme to see who garnered a bigger reaction when their music hit. Without a shadow of a doubt, it was the Hitman.

Although the record books will forever show Hart and Luger as co-winners of the 1994 Royal Rumble, it was Bret who was successful in his championship efforts on the grand stage after Luger fell short. As convoluted an ending as it was, it set a precedent for future Rumbles.
