It's some measure of the man that one of his best ever matches came after four years of being on the sidelines.

But then Shawn Michaels' clash with Triple H at SummerSlam 2002 was less a wrestling match than it was an out-and-out fight, so personal and intense in nature that WWE refused to 'officially' sign off on it (although did, naturally, give it a slot on one of its biggest pay-per-views of the year).

For the emotional roller-coaster that it was, this match must go down as one of the greatest in the Heartbreak Kid collection. There was even the odd moment when you worried that Shawn's back might not hold up - but it did, and he wrestled through the pain barrier to deliver a SummerSlam classic.
