10 Best Ever WrestleMania Rematches At Backlash

8. Triple H Vs The Rock* (2000)

There’s a very clear asterisk here for this “rematch” because it’s not a pure do-over from WrestleMania.

WrestleMania 2000 made history for being the first time a heel walked out of the main event of Mania with the win. Triple H won a fatal four-way elimination match to retain the WWF Championship. The match featured a McMahon in every corner, and saw Big Show, Mick Foley and The Rock all toppled. But once Show and Foley were eliminated, the match turned into a straight one-on-one bout between Rock and Helmsley.

So a month later at Backlash, that part of the WM 2000 main event was run back in a main event, this time with Rocky overcoming a ton of interference from the McMahon clan and emerging victorious, capturing the WWF Championship.

The 2000 edition of Backlash is often cited as one of the best post-Mania PPVs/PLEs, and even sometimes called better than WM 2000 itself.
