Many wrestling fans continue to take umbrage with how the then-WWF utilised Dusty Rhodes during his two-year tenure with the promotion from 1989 - 1991. For the American Dream, he was put in polka dots and introduced to audiences in vignettes showing him unblocking sh*t from a toilet, delivering pizza and pumping gas.

For someone already viewed as one of the greatest of all time by that point, this was a major step away from the three-time NWA Worlds Champion wrestling fans had come to know and love. But still, Dusty being Dusty, he did everything in his power to get his 'common man' persona over to an impressive level.

One particular highlight of this WWF tenure, was getting to see Dusty team with his son Dustin as part of Dream's feud with Ted DiBiase. This father/son duo would team up to battle the Million Dollar Man and Virgil at the 1991 Royal Rumble PPV, and soon after both Rhodes would depart the World Wrestling Federation and head for World Championship Wrestling.

A decade later, and Dusty and Dustin would again team for certain independent promotions - most notably for the American Dream's Turnbuckle Championship Wrestling organisation. 2013 would give audiences the sight of Dusty, Dustin and Cody Rhodes all working together on WWE TV as part of the Authority storyline of the day.
