10 Best Female Superstars Of The New Era

9. Emma

There is no doubt that Emma is a strong in ring worker. Unfortunately, her performance has floundered in the past, and she was one of the early examples of how a gimmick that can get over with the smaller, more niche NXT audience might not translate to the main roster. It probably also didn’t help that WWE paired her with Santino and made her do a dance-off against Summer Rae.

To her credit, Emma effectively re-invented herself when she was sent back down to NXT after her first disastrous run on the main roster. We saw a new, meaner Emma, with more purpose and viciousness. And we liked it. It’s just a shame that her new heel persona’s exposure on the main roster was cut short due to injury.

Emma is expected to return to Raw any week now, apparently under a new gimmick and the new name of 'Emmalina'. I’m not going to pass judgment until I see what WWE have actually done with her, but hopefully WWE continue to recognise that Emma has the potential to be a breakout star.

Stephanie Lim lives in London and has been watching wrestling since she was 4 years old, which is longer ago than she would like to admit. Her favourite wrestler of all time is Shawn Michaels, her favourite current wrestler is Kevin Owens, and she will always regret being too young to push her way through the crowd to shake Bret Hart's hand at a WWE event in 1993.
