10 Best Female Superstars Of The New Era
3. Bayley
Like Asuka, Bayley would not have been conceived of ten or even five years ago. Yet now her squeaky-clean kid-friendly and huggable babyface gimmick has been one of the biggest phenomenons in NXT. She found a missing gap in the women’s market – she’s someone who just wants hugs, and it seems everyone can relate to that.
Coupled with a compelling and popular persona is her truly exceptional in-ring work. The two title matches she had with Sasha Banks in 2015 were instant classics, with their TakeOver Brooklyn bout winning match of the year. This was in a year when the NXT roster was overflowing with talent and fantastic matches from Finn Bálor, Samoa Joe, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn, to name a few.
Bayley is struggling in the main roster as of late. Unfortunately it looks like she is suffering at the hands of the “lost in translation” effect from NXT to the main roster, which Emma also suffered. Hopefully WWE can figure out how best to use her and turn it around before they waste an unbelievable talent.
