Though primarily revolving around 'Taker's beef with Michaels (after HBK accidentally cost The Deadman his WWE Championship at SummerSlam '97), the rivalry's population multiplied quickly.

While HHH, Chyna and Rick Rude got involved to aid Michaels at every given opportunity, The Phenom also had to contend with the looming presence, eventual debut and ever-present threat of Kane at the same time.
