10 Best Foreign Heels In WWE History

8. William Regal

While never as explicitly anti-American as some of the other wrestlers on this list, Regal’s character is deeply rooted in British pride and parading his home nation’s supposed superiority. Whether working the WCW Television Title scene or excelling as WWE Commissioner, William Regal has always been an outstanding technical wrestler, and, more crucially, one of the best heels in the business.

Playing his elitist British aristocrat gimmick to perfection, Regal has overcome a myriad of personal demons to enjoy a long, fruitful career as a WWE performer and personality. Unfortunately, those same problems resurfaced in 2008, and cost him what would’ve been a stratospheric push into WWE’s main event scene.

Suspended for a Wellness Policy violation a few weeks after winning WWE’s King of the Ring tournament, Regal never recovered from his 60 days on the sideline. He continued to work as a midcarder and on-air authority figure, but never looked like scraping World Championship level ever again.

It’s a shame that the callous Englishman was never able to take his heel persona as far as he could’ve, but nevertheless the Blackpool native remains WWE’s greatest British heel.
