10 Best Great American Bash Matches Ever

2. Midnight Express Vs. Southern Boys (US Tag Team Titles) - 1990

WWE.comWWE.comThe Midnight Express were a heel tag team comprised of Bobby Eaton and Stane Lane. They were managed by Jim Cornette. They walked into the match as the tag team champions. The Southern Boys were Steve Armstrong (brother of Road Dogg in WWE) and Tracy Smothers, was pretty successful in his career wrestling in a number of different promotions. The best way to describe it is that it was one of those classic tag team matches where the heels controlled the action for the most part, then the faces made the big comeback and looked like they were about to come back only for them to fall short. For the finish, Armstrong received the hot tag for his team after Smothers took a beating for much of the match. It looked like Armstrong had the win after missile dropkick off the top, but the Midnights managed to cheat. Eaton nearly won with the Rocket Launcher. The crowd was so loud for the finish as the heels cheated again and Eaton got the pin with an inside cradle. Tag team wrestling was such a big deal during this era that they actually had two sets of tag champions. Even though this match was 24 years ago it still holds up all these years later and is a perfect example of what tag team matches should be.
