There's comedy, there's absurdist humor, and then there's the performance that Michaels gave at the 2005 SummerSlam. "The Heartbreak Kid" flopped around like a fish out of water for reasons that aren't entirely clear. Some say it was because he disagreed with the finish, in which he would be putting Hogan over clean. He claims he just wanted to have a little fun "poking the bear" in regards to Hulk.

Whatever the case may have been, the frenetic tumbles didn't detract from what was an enjoyable main event match, with Michaels playing 1990 Mr. Perfect or 1986 Randy Savage to Hulk's still-welcome nostalgia act. Certainly it was another example of a physically-capable wrestler with a keen sense of timing helping Hogan turn back the clock.

And indeed, while the match was all nostalgia, it was fun to see the old Hogan formula with a performer of Michaels' unmatched caliber being the ragdoll. Whether the most memorable bumps were truly good-natured or not remains uncertain.
