10 Best Hulk Hogan Matches Ever
8. Vs. Ric Flair (Madison Square Garden, 11/30/91)
What could have been. The designed main event of WrestleMania 8 would've seen the dream match of dream matches, Hogan vs. Flair, WWE's king vs. WCW's loss. Before plans ultimately changed, the two pillars of pro wrestling toured the house show circuit against each other, with a couple matches filmed at the Garden in late 1991.
This particular match took place mere days after Flair cost Hogan the belt at Survivor Series, and just before Hulk regained it at This Tuesday in Texas. The New York crowd is off the charts for this one, as would be expected.
At only nine and a half minutes, the match is greatly abbreviated, but it was functionally a nibble at what was supposed to be a bigger feast. Flair initially wins with brass knuckle-related chicanery, which draws a deafening ovation in Hulk's "backyard". The decision is reversed to allow both men to retain their heat, naturally. Bell to bell, it's a lively and brisk look at what should have been the biggest WrestleMania main event to date. Alas.
