10 Best Hulk Hogan Matches Ever
2. Vs. The Ultimate Warrior (WrestleMania 6)
"The Ultimate Challenge" was ultimately rehearsed. WWE had tabbed the young Warrior as the flagbearer of a new age, and were banking on Hogan to help make Jim Hellwig's transition to the apex as smooth as possible. The title-for-title match at WrestleMania 6 was practiced extensively beforehand by two men lacking a technician to do the heavy lifting.
All of that practice certainly didn't boost Warrior's cardio. Instead of using the nifty ring cart as transport, Warrior opted to run down the insanely long aisleway for his entrance, which did him no favors as the match wore on. By the end, Warrior was so clearly gassed that he almost collapsed doing a gorilla press slam.
It's to Hogan's credit that the match came off as well as it did. Warrior did his part, but Hogan assumed the role of ring general at least partially due to his experience edge. Factor in Pat Patterson's extra-tight pre-planning of spots, and the match earned its suitably legendary status. Watching Hulk during the match, you do appreciate a little bit more just how he managed to hold it together.
