Via his 'Something To Wrestle With' podcast, former WWE creative team member Bruce Prichard blamed the WWF creative team for the abomination known as Aldo Montoya. Cast as a 'Portuguese soccer star' originally, Montoya was supposed to appeal to the European market.

Unhappy with the character, Vince McMahon had it tweaked to a masked gimmick. That's when Aldo began wearing his now-legendary yellow mask, one which resembled a jock strap. Looking like a fool, Montoya was never going to get over under the guise, even if he did have friends in The Kliq.

Departing the WWF in 1997, the man behind the mask (Peter Polaco) made his way to ECW. Almost immediately, Polaco shaved his head and started dressing in jean shorts and heavy metal shirts. Suddenly, the former Aldo Montoya was more relevant to his employer's audience than ever before.

Renamed Justin Credible, he went on to become an ECW Heavyweight and Tag-Team Champion. Sticking with ECW until the promotion closed doors in 2001, Credible was a success story for Paul Heyman's group. He had rescued another outcast.
