5. Al Snow

A real victim of the WWF's cartoonish philosophy in the mid-1990's, gimmicks like Shinobi, Avatar and Leif Cassidy did nothing for Allen Sarven. Due to the business relationship Vince McMahon had with ECW, the enhancement talent was posted to Paul Heyman's promotion in 1997.

From there, things got a whole lot better for the guy. Repackaged as Al Snow, the wrestler had created a new character that would even help him later back in the WWF. Forging a bizarre bond with a mannequin head, Snow had 'Help Me' printed across his forehead backwards and appeared to have completely lost his mind.

The beauty here came in the storytelling, ECW reasoned that Snow had been driven insane by his treatment in the WWF. Fans backed the new idea, flipping Snow's career around entirely and making him one of the most memorable characters of the entire 'Attitude Era'.

In the WWF, Al went from ninja and smiling babyface to nondescript heel. Upon joining ECW, he was reimagined as a lunatic who had lost touch with reality.
