10 Best In-Ring Workers In WWE Right Now
4. Brock Lesnar
Brock Lesnar is easily the most believable performer in the modern era. His presence mandates a trademark commentary cliche, but when Michael Cole parrots on about the atmosphere changing in the arena, it is one of the few things he says with any degree of sincerity.
Lesnar's aura is such that he doesn't need to perform a convoluted series of reversals and counters to spike audience enthusiasm. The visceral thrill of watching him knee an opponent in the gut is as impactful and jaw-dropping as any ostentatious move in the current climate.
Lesnar, with one eye trained on what was an MMA misadventure, throughout 2016 indulged the simplicity of his act to diminishing returns. He was unmotivated, and his lifeless performances transmitted to the audience - but even during his annus horribilis he demonstrated his vastly underrated selling ability. The first chapter of his rivalry with Goldberg would not have resonated as much as it did without Lesnar's brilliant approximation of being winded. His vaunted real combat exploits lend him credibility in every component of the wrestling equation.
The last chapter of it saw a return to the awesome form of old. It was dynamic, suspenseful and brutal - as perfect as it could possibly have been.
When Lesnar does need to perform a counter, it is invariably jaw-dropping. His leap frog evasion of Goldberg's spear in Orlando was both logical and awe-inspiring - a summation of the Lesnar act in itself.
