10 Best Insults In The History Of MMA
7. Michael Bisping - If You Believe That
Michael Bisping's career has been defined by his ability to overcome adversity and emerge victoriously.
In his career, Bisping holds the dubious record of being the fighter to have won the most UFC fights after having been knocked down.
In a way, that record is a perfect analogy of Bisping's career as a whole. The Count has been counted out by observers several times over the course of his career, though has consistently managed to come back better.
By 2016, many thought the UFC title shot that had eluded the Englishman his entire career was never going to come. After all, Bisping had already been decisively beaten by then-champion Luke Rockhold, and while he had picked up a famous victory over Anderson Silva in his home country, he was still below other contenders in the pecking order at 185lbs.
However, when Chris Weidman had to pull out with an injury, Bisping stepped in to face his old rival in the main event of UFC 199 with gold on the line.
Despite the odds being stacked against him, Bisping would foreshadow his epic KO victory with one of the best quotes in the history of the UFC:
“Listen, I’ll put it like this. If people can walk around – and I don’t mean this in a disrespectful way to religious people – and you believe the son of God came down to earth 2,000 years ago, and he killed himself for our sins, and he can walk on water, and there’s a God up there looking after ourselves, and if you get on your knees and pray to him that things will change, if you can believe that, then you can believe that I can knock the f**k out of Luke Rockhold two weeks from Saturday.”
