Ziggler was still establishing himself as a spring-loaded tour de force, and wasn't considered anywhere near the level he would eventually ascend to (nor was he particularly considered a worthy foe for Mysterio in 2009, with the masked man refusing to drop the belt to him at Nigh of Champions a month earlier).

Kicking off what was quite the underrated SummerSlam, Ziggler and Mysterio put together a performance that ended up being pretty hard to top that night.

The incredible amount of near falls as the match crescendo'd made Ziggler out to be a more viable challenger than his previous WWE life had indicated. Mysterio had to resort to a million hurricanrana attempts in order to position him for the 619, only to finish with a regular pinning 'rana after an exhausting twelve-plus minutes of action.
