10 Best Intercontinental Title Matches Of WWE's PG Era

2. Dean Ambrose Vs. Kevin Owens (Royal Rumble 2016)

It's only been four months, and this hellacious brawl sadly feels like it's been forgotten about. The last man standing match for Ambrose's Intercontinental title kicked off what is probably WWE's best overall pay-per-view of 2016 to this point, book-ending the show nicely with a Rumble match that broke the streak of two crappy ones in a row.

Owens and Ambrose did everything possible to give the match a chaotic feeling, complete with Owens' nice subtleties ("I HATE YOU!" when struck with a chair). Both men took some dangerous, but not completely insane, bumps, putting it a cut above other gimmick matches in this era.

As it stands, it's probably the best main roster match of 2016, though I feel like something's bound to top it before too much longer.
