10 Best Main Roster Debuts By WWE NXT Stars
2. Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, And Roman Reigns
In the same way Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks debuting on Raw in 2015 marked the arrival of NXT's top women, three years earlier the same happened for the men’s roster.
During the main of Survivor Series 2012, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns arrived during the WWE Championship match between CM Punk, Ryback and John Cena. When it seemed like Ryback was about to pin Cena and win the championship, the three men entered the ring and put a stop to it.
These three men, known as The Shield, dragged The Big Guy out of the ring and through the announce table with their soon to become patented triple Powerbomb. In doing this, it allowed CM Punk to capitalize, pinning Cena to retain his title. What truly sold this as an epic debut was the announce team not pretending they did not know who these men were. Michael Cole and company told us who they were, told fans they were from NXT and made Rollins, Reigns and Ambrose seem as big a deal as possible.
In one night, WWE laid the ground work for three of the biggest stars in professional wrestling; and to think, they did it all while wearing turtlenecks.
