When an individual is tasked with coming up with the most important names from the category titled 'ECW Original', Shane Douglas more often than not gets overlooked. There may indeed be many reasons for this, but the role he played in the company at the time cannot be ignored. In a world of cartoon violence aggressively dragged out of the modern world, Shane Douglas was an old-school wrestling heel who cheated to win matches and pissed people off in the process.

2 Cold Scorpio is another who may not get the appreciation he deserves. The man WWF fans may remember as Flash Funk was flying around the ring way back when, and was responsible for some of the most entertaining ECW matches of the time. Sure, the idea of story and psychology was lost on him now and then, but the guy sure could entertain.

Add to this mix a pre-Best In The World At What He Does Chris Jericho and you know you're in for something special. Pitbull #2 was involved too, and it is difficult to think of a wrestling moniker that can incite less enthusiasm. Not only are you anonymous, but you are also the second most important anonymous individual in a two-man team. Unfortunate.

Jericho is eliminated first, meaning a new champion was to be crowned. Douglas and the second most important Pitbull conspire to get rid of Scorpio, and after nearly forty minutes of fantastic action Shane Douglas comes out on top as your new ECW TV Champion. The real story here was Francine turning on the Pitbulls to align herself with Douglas of course, but this match still stands up to this very day.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
