10 Best Matt Hardy Matches

1. W/ Jeff Hardy Vs. Edge & Christian & The Dudley Boys (WWE SummerSlam 2000)

SummerSlam 2000's inaugural Tables, Ladders & Chairs encounter was neither the best nor most influential of the legendary wars waged between The Hardy Boyz, Edge, Christian and The Dudley Boyz, but Matt Hardy risking his entire life in front of his friends and family warrants the top spot in his personal list.

The typically-insane stunt show that had already put the three teams on the map delivered even more bonkers brilliance than the WrestleMania, Royal Rumble and No Mercy destruction derbies that had preceded it.

Like those, it built logically too, leading to a cavalcade of crushing falls before Edge & Christian yet again wriggled away with the winner's share of the purse. Matt's own fall was as rewarding for viewers as it was risky for Hardy himself. Pushed backwards from the tallest ladder through two tables at ringside, Matt narrowly missed cracking his head on the guardrail but dispatched himself magnificently through the wreckage.

His placement even allowed for Lita to take a spear from Edge almost immediately afterwards, such was the incredible planning of every terrifying spot. A man that almost always put the 'professional' in 'professional wrestler', Matt gave his body to the cause, and has deserved the opportunity to take it back in retirement.
