10 Best Modern WWE Rivalries
6. Becky Lynch Vs. Ronda Rousey
This rivalry did a lot to cement Becky Lynch as the absolute star that the company needed. As they continued to try and legitimise female wrestling, the WWE needed a people's champion. They had the likes of Charlotte and Asuka, who were taken seriously, but they lacked a star to drive home the popularity of the women's division.
It seemed at first that Ronda Rousey was the right fit for this, but strangely enough, her character was never handled logically. Although Rousey was a killer in UFC, she entered the WWE as a smiling babyface who never really came across as all too threatening. It was jarring to see the legitimately frightening figure reduced to a disappointing non-charismatic presence. The wrestler who would end up taking the position of the says what she wants and take no prisoners character that Rousey should have had was Becky Lynch.
We all know about the rise of Lynch, but her rivalry with Rousey came along to help it feel all the more relevant. It's a monstrously underrated feud that highlighted the depths of Lynch's popularity as she came out against one of the most mainstream stars the company had, looking like the true people's hero.
