This rivalry did a lot to cement Becky Lynch as the absolute star that the company needed. As they continued to try and legitimise female wrestling, the WWE needed a people's champion. They had the likes of Charlotte and Asuka, who were taken seriously, but they lacked a star to drive home the popularity of the women's division.

It seemed at first that Ronda Rousey was the right fit for this, but strangely enough, her character was never handled logically. Although Rousey was a killer in UFC, she entered the WWE as a smiling babyface who never really came across as all too threatening. It was jarring to see the legitimately frightening figure reduced to a disappointing non-charismatic presence.
