4. John Cena Vs. Kevin Owens (2015)

One of the first cases of WWE stealing (and slightly misunderstanding) the New Japan Pro Wrestling multiple finishers trope, the 'Champion Vs Champion' match between NXT kingpin Kevin Owens and workrate renaissance man John Cena during his United States Title 'Open Challenge' period was a worthy and hard-fought brawl for much of the battle. Only a clunky closing sequence stopped this ranking even higher on this list.

Still boxfresh on the main roster after debuting in emphatic fashion at Cena's expense on Monday Night Raw then shockingly scoring a clean win over him in their maiden match at an 'Elimination Chamber' network special the prior month, Owens was in delicious form as a sudden star against the established old guard.

Surviving odd botches when Cena went for his sunset flip bomb and springboard Stunner, the match didn't the lose heat as the pair raced through their heaviest hits en route to 'Big Match John's big win.

Playing out in front of a split crowd as usual, fans stuck with their favourites, despite the stretches of unbelievability late in the battle. Owens' post-match tantrum following his loss also left room for one more epic encounter to toast his full graduation to the main roster.
