3. John Cena Vs. AJ Styles (2016)

The first of an awesome trilogy of singles pay-per-view clashes that wouldn't culminate until the following year, AJ Styles' tainted victory over John Cena didn't undermine the thrilling and dramatic battle that preceded it.

Promising to keep things clean despite becoming a dirty heel alongside his 'Club' brothers to set-up the dream clash, 'The Phenomenal One' went move-for-move with 'Big Match John', predictably outmanoeuvring him until the two entered into an exhilarating finisher trade-off that would ultimately come to define their series.

Styles' slick reversals were looking too much for 'The Champ' until he took instead to ducking and dodging attacks rather than absorbing them. It was at this point Styles' desperation revealed itself.

Allowing a flailing leg to take out the referee, AJ laid the table for Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson to run-in for him in a sequence that would later become a trademark conclusion for the trio as babyfaces. It was as successful at the first attempt - the duo hit the Magic Killer on an exhausted Cena to help their former Bullet Club leader steal the victory.

The seed of doubt grew between the two as a result, leading to an even better SummerSlam rematch later that year.
