The last main event of the 2016 Best of the Super Juniors was bettered by the first main event however. On the first night in Tokyo's Korakuen Hall, KUSHIDA came up against Kyle O'Reilly in a re-match from the 2015 final. O'Reilly has carved himself a nice little niche in New Japan Pro Wrestling, the hardest hitting junior in the division that is right there at the top table.

Every single time these two face off they create something special, and this was no different. Having worked together a lot in tag competition in the past, they know each other extremely well, and their chemistry is undeniable. KUSHIDA proved further why he is one of the top babyfaces in all of pro wrestling, and O'Reilly showed that he has a bright future outside of the tag division, as if that was in doubt.

This won't be the last match between the two, and as O'Reilly managed to defeat the Jr. Heavyweight Champion one can assume that another match between the two with the belt on the line is in the near future. Another instant classic is a safe, safe bet.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man.
