Kenny Omega and Michael Elgin have remarkable chemistry. When the two Canadians were drawn against each other in the first round of the IWGP United States Championship tournament, fans expected greatness. On Canada Day, those fans were not disappointed.

Omega and Elgin continued from where they left off in 2016, giving the Long Beach fans a veritable showcase of athleticism and wrestling aptitude. This was a beautifully constructed match, playing on the energy of the crowd and keeping the fans on the edge of their seats throughout.

Omega's selling was next level stuff here. Elgin always looks like a beast, but it is Omega's world-class giving that puts #BigMike on a power pedestal all of his own. This reached its apex in the match when Elgin hit a gorgeous crucifix powerbomb from the second rope, a spot that looked for all the world like the finish.

But Omega survived, and went on to hit Elgin with a number of vicious knees and the One Winged Angel for the win. New Japan is blessed with a number of matches that never get old - Kenny Omega vs. Michael Elgin is another one of those.
