10 Best Non-WWE Wrestlers Of 2016 (So Far)

7. Pentagón Jr.

When Lucha Underground first debuted in 2014, Prince Puma emerged as the program's breakout star. When he took a leave of absence in 2015, it was Pentagón Jr. who stepped up to grab his spot as LU's most acclaimed talent.

Pentagón Jr. opened up 2016 with a babyface turn, attacking Mil Muertes and breaking his arm. While Pentagón was unable to capitalize on the turn, falling to Lucha Underground Champion Matanza Cueto in a title match, the luchador's profile had been raised substantially.

More and more "Cero Miedo" shirts have been popping up at wrestling shows, and WWE is reportedly interested in the talented star.

Pentagón Jr. has also been dominant in his home promotion, Triple A. He won the 20th annual Rey de Reyes tournament in March, defeating Villano IV and La Parka (not the WCW original) in the finals. He would then go on to defeat Psycho Clown for the AAA Latin American Championship.

A repeat of 2015, where he was named AAA's Wrestler of the Year, seems wholly plausible.
