10 Best NXT Matches Of 2016

9. Shinsuke Nakamura Vs Samoa Joe (NXT TakeOver: Toronto)

Another dream showdown, people expected big things when stiff striking superstars Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura first faced off at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II. The pre-match hype meant that the match, good though it was, ended up being something of a letdown.

Their rematch at NXT TakeOver: Toronto, however, was a much better affair and the best match from the feud between the two men. The story leading into the rematch was that Joe had injured Nakamura after slamming him on the steel steps. The two played off the fact that they hated one another from the get go, brawling into the crowd and showing the fire that their first match probably lacked.

Joe has looked reinvigorated in NXT this year as an entitled, badass heel and he brought that aggression into his second bout against Nakamura. 'The King of Strong Style' was also at his hard hitting best here, with the two trading brutal strikes throughout. With big move kickouts and Joe cracking out old school moves in his arsenal like the Chimera-Plex, this main event felt like just that. The shocking result of Joe regaining the title made this one all the more memorable.
