9. The Inaugural North American Title Ladder Match - TakeOver New Orleans
If you're wondering where TakeOver: XXX got the idea for their ladder match from, wonder no more.
TakeOver: New Orleans opened in spectacular style when six of NXT's finest battled it out for the right to be crowned the first ever North American Champion. The titanic Lars Sullivan and Killian Dian joined Velveteen Dream, the red-hot Adam Cole, and two men making their NXT debuts in EC3 and Ricochet.
The former Prince Puma stole the show in this match, showing off his ridiculous athleticism with two legendary spots; a springboard Shooting Star Press to the outside and a moonsault off a falling ladder. Velveteen Dream made himself a permanent fixture of NXT highlight reels with an insane elbow drop off a ginormous ladder and the two big boys in this match proved their inhuman strength on numerous occasions.
This match set the blueprint for wild ladder matches in WWE and earned the prestigious five-star rating from Dave Meltzer at the Wrestling Observer. It was a fantastic way to open the show and set the tone for what was one of the best events in NXT's history.
Also, seeing Adam Cole win was pretty darn cool.
