10 Best Opening Matches In WrestleMania History
5. WrestleMania 35 - Seth Rollins Vs Brock Lesnar
When the Universal Championship match kicked off WrestleMania 35 in New Jersey, there was genuine surprise. After Alexa Bliss and Hulk Hogan's segment, Paul Heyman stomped to the ring. Since Brock couldn't headline thanks to Charlotte, Becky, and Ronda scheduled to go on last, the Beast Incarnate would get his match over with first and head to Vegas.
Not only did the surprise factor engage the crowd, Paul Heyman on the microphone never fails to get an audience going. Immediately, the fans woke up and were ready for WrestleMania.
Rollins was attacked even before he reached the ring, and was genuinely battered and bruised by the Universal Champion, before the match itself seemed to go the way many Brock Lesnar matches go - man handling his opponent followed by a string of German suplexes. With Rollins able to fight back however, to the tune of three Curb Stomps, it wasn't quite the norm for Brock after all.
Though it may not have been the most breathtaking match in the world, it was good to see the WWE get creative and do something different and genuinely shocking to open the show.
