10 Best Opening Matches In WrestleMania History
3. WrestleMania 25 - Money In The Bank Ladder Match
Two years after Finlay and CM Punk failed to capture the Money in the Bank briefcase, they had another opportunity at WrestleMania 25. This time they battled against Kane, Christian, Shelton Benjamin, MVP, Kofi Kingston, and Mark Henry. After the barn burner that opened WrestleMania 23, this match had a lot to live up to.
The new dynamic of having both Kane and Mark Henry as two immovable objects added another layer to the match, but any multi-man ladder match will always be looked at for its high risk, high octane offence. That's why so many of these have opened WrestleMania through the years after all.
This particular match had Shelton Benjamin, CM Punk, and Kofi Kingston all battling for MVP, with ridiculously athletic, wonderfully creative spots. From ingenious ways of both getting up and coming down from ladders, to physically jumping over and through the ladders, to the creative finish to the match, it was a fun 15 minutes.
Just one notable botch in a spot between Benjamin and MVP wasn't nearly enough to detract from a strong start to Mania's 25th anniversary.
