The alliteration of 'Hulk Hogan' echoed the naming practises behind superheroes, and that's precisely what Hulk Hogan was: a stupendously muscled, monstrously-tanned, marketable demigod with an impeccable moral compass, able to fight any and all comers regardless of how much bigger or more dastardly they were. Much like Clark Kent, Hulk Hogan, in his Golden Era pomp, was capable of saving the world from all manner of threats. He inspired belief with one tear of his tank top.

'Hulk' reflected the sheer strength of a man capable of slamming giants on the canvas and absorbing blows to the face like they were nothing. 'Hogan', meanwhile, was a classic Irish-American surname conveying to the public that, while larger than life, Hogan was not above it. A dependable man of the people, Hogan stood for them. It was an unforgettable ring name. Everybody knows who Hulk Hogan is.

It was a name designed to be spoken aloud, loudly, by Howard Finkel. 'Hulk' was the emphatic, one-syllable opening gambit. Finkel stretched out the word 'Hoooooooogan' for an age, reflecting the man's immortality in his ring introduction.
